Recently I have been sharing a lot about our support raising journey (I do have an update to share but will post later). Today however I want to share something a little different.
Over the past month or so I have been listening a lot to one song.
I share it with others.
I make my wife and kids listen to it.
I keep coming back to this one song because of one line that has brought me to tears more times than I care to admit.
The song is Future/Past by John Mark McMillan and the line is this:
"All treasures of wisdom and things to be known are hidden inside your hands. And in this fortunate turn of events You asked me to be your friend."
The picture he so beautifully paints throughout the song is one of a Majestic, Holy, Sovereign King who had no need or obligation to reach down out of heaven and associate with a lowly, wicked rebel. There is nothing about me that is compelling enough to convince him to save me. And in this unbelievably fortunate turn of events he did just that. Jesus stepped out of heaven, emptied himself, and humbly went to the cross and paid the ultimate price for me and asked me to be his friend. He sought me out, he took the initiative even when I wanted nothing to do with him.
That is the definition of love and grace.
That's why I have been in tears more than I care to admit.
He asked me to be his friend.
Listen for yourself and find rest that the King of Kings, the one who is the beginning and the end, is pursuing you.
